What are tokens and how are they counted?

Tokens measure AI processing. One page of a typical document uses roughly 500–800 tokens.

Tokens are the unit Lymnus uses to measure AI processing. Every time you run an extraction, generate a report, or trigger an agent, the platform reads your documents and generates output — both the reading and the writing consume tokens.

As a rough guide:

  • 1 token ≈ 4 characters of text

  • 1 page of a typical document ≈ 500–800 tokens

  • A 10-page PDF ≈ 5,000–8,000 tokens

  • A full extraction with AI output typically costs 1.5–2× the document size in tokens (input + output)

Your monthly token allocation resets at the start of each billing cycle. On paid plans, unused tokens roll over for one additional month. You can check your current balance and usage breakdown at Billing → Usage.
